In 1919, after returning from the First World War, the young farrier Josef Schmitt (26.11.1896 - 21.06.1976) supports his father Philipp Schmitt (26.01.1859 - 28.11.1928), a trained blacksmith, in building a new forge.
In 1921 Josef Schmitt receives his master craftsman's certificate from the Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce and a year later opens, together with his brother Otto, the "Hammerwerk Gebrüder Schmitt". Production is soon extended to axes, hatchets and other tools. In the 1930s the brand "ADLER" is brought to life.
Today Tobias Schmitt, Josef's great-grandson, runs our company in the fourth generation. In more than 100 years the small village forge has developed into an international specialist for forged forestry tools and garden tools.
